This danish cord bench is great in any living room, bedroom at the foot of the bed, hallway or at the dining table. It is truly functional art that can be used daily or kept as a fine furniture accent piece. This bench not only looks great, but is rock solid! It is made to be used. I made sure to design this bench to be extremely strong. Beefy double rails make this a bench that can comfortably support 300 lbs., while typical ones found elsewhere with single rails will sag under the weight of one slight person. The cord itself (Danish Cord) is known to last a very long time. It is still made in Denmark of 3 ply Kraft Paper twisted on large machinery, then lightly waxed for wear resistance. It is also fairly easy and economical to have restrung if ever necessary. All mortise and tenon construction. Legs are turned on a lathe and all components are shaped and refined by hand, including round overs on all components, making each piece soft to the touch and pleasing to the eye. The tops of the legs are all chamfered, contributing to durability and adding a touch of style. All of these small but well thought out details make for an extremely labor intensive design, but it is one that really sets it apart! Pictured in Maple, Walnut and black stained Ash wood.
